Second Lata Syndrome death in Jodhpur

Jodhpur, Apr 21 (PTI) With the death of a woman in the ward at MDM Hospital today, the mysterious illness first diagnosed in Mumbai has made its presence felt in the largest city in the Rajasthan region of India. Samida Devi (22) was brought to the hospital from Sojat city on Tuesday in serious condition and her swab was sent for test on the same day. The report, which came on Wednesday was positive, and today she succumbed, hospital sources said.

This is the first reported LS death in Jodhpur. In all, 4 patients had been tested positive in the last two days. "There are two more patients admitted in the isolation ward, who have tested positive and their conditions are deteriorating. This could become a very dangerous pandemic if the spread of this pathogen is not checked," said Arvind Mathur, HOD (Medicine). Besides this, samples of the swab of two more suspects has been sent to the laboratory and the report is awaited, Mathur said. .
